Insomnia

I hate it when I can’t sleep. I’ve never been much of an insomniac, seeing as how I’m usually the first person in the bed. Tonight, though, my brain won’t shut up. I’m downloading Yellow Dog Linux ISOs from here at the Sheraton in Lexington, and all I can think about is whether or not it will work on the little G3 iBook. I sure hope so, considering I paid $10 for the rights to use this connection. At least it’s relatively fast. Lo and behold, typing this post has actually called forth the sandman. Just as I planned… :)

Tying the Knot

The wedding is FINALLY starting to come together. It’s not all just a bunch of ideas any more. Trav and I have agreed on things we want and don’t want and are starting to finalize plans to order things. I’ve ordered my dress, and purchased my tiara. Trav and I saw the church for the first time this weekend and it’s absolutely beautiful. I’ve done nothing but look at wedding stuff on the internet all day…there are so many beautiful things it’s hard to decide on what will be the final product. After ordering my dress and seeing the church, I realized that the next 7 months will fly by, as have the last 5, and I’ve started to get nervous, yet very excited about our big day!! All the stress of planning a wedding will be well worth it though, because after it’s all said and done I get to spend the rest of my life with the one I’ve always prayed for. And for that end result, I’d do anything.

Wondermus Day

This day has just been great. First off, the kids are really engaged. They have worked very hard today, despite it being Friday. Normally, on Friday’s, very little gets accomplished. I try, but there are too many distractions and everyone generally appears dead. Today, though, was different, and I like it.

The icing on the cake, though, is that Becca is going to be here (in Jackson) all weekend. I’m so happy I could just pee (ya’ know, like one of those little dogs that gets really excited)! Actually, I won’t pee because it’s somewhat unsanitary, but I will pee in my mind at the thought of 60 hours of bliss! Yeehaw!

“The One”

I found this on facebook and read it to Travis. Automatically, we looked at each other, because before I even finished, we both knew it described him better than anything either of us could ever say: “Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead..who wants to show you off to the world when you are in a t-shirt and sweats… who calls back even though you just hung up on him…who holds your hand in front of his friends..who thinks you’re just as pretty without makeup..one who lets you know without having to say it, that he loves you and knows how lucky he is to have you..the one who turns to his friends and says “that’s her.”

It took a while to find him, but he’s worth the wait.

Top 10 Reason Why Becky and Trav Should Get Married

  1. They both love kittens but hate cats.
  2. They both would prefer that multiple food items on a plate not touch.
  3. Neither is bothered by a room that looks like a tornado hit it if they know where everything is.
  4. They both prefer clothes that look like they just got out of bed. (comfy stuff)
  5. She wears watermellon lip gloss; he really likes watermellon-flavored stuff.
  6. They both can quote the first 5 words of any Ron White joke to each other and instantly start laughing.
  7. She doesn’t care that he has a melt-down if he looses his pen; He’s very good at grammar. (Don’t ask.)
  8. They both know what a blivet is.
  9. He writes poems; she likes his poems.
  10. They both think the poker-themed little bathroom is the coolest thing ever.

Anticipation

I’m going to Lexington this weekend to stay with Becky. I can’t wait. This week hasn’t been bad, but it sucks that we have to go a whole five days without seeing one another. I know, I know. We have service men and women who go months without seeing their loved ones…But it still bites.

All is quiet here right now, as it is break time and there are no kids. Everything must have been very noisy today because I find the quietness unusually unsettling. Oh well.

Big News (If Not a Little Late)

For the portion of the world who doesn’t know, I’m engaged to Rebecca Kim Gross. I actually popped the question on July 30. It goes without saying, I’m very, very happy. I can honestly say I’m happier now than I have ever been in my life. I don’t really believe in soul mates, but I think Beck is probably as close to the concept as I could imagine. She thinks my happy dance is cute… ‘Nuff said.

Teaching

Click here if you want to look at my digital teaching portfolio. It is supposed to represent my teaching from the last year. While I think it’s ok, I don’t think it adequately reflects how much I care about helping my students learn. Teaching is serious business and there is a lot riding on what is taught in the classroom. I think the majority of KY teachers do not take it seriously enough.
