Pretty Paper

This morning I wrapped Christmas presents. This is one activity that I like to do year after year. I love being able to buy things for those who I care about. I know, I know…Christmas isn’t supposed to be about the presents. For me, it isn’t. It’s about family: The food and the company are always great. But seeing someone’s face light up as they open something thoughtful is priceless. I like to buy gifts that people really want, which doesn’t always mean something expensive.

Bittersweet Day

Today has been great. There was no school today, so I decided to take the day off. I slept until 11:00 pm. I don’t remember the last time I did that. When I finally did get out of bed, my head hurt. So, I ate, took some pills, and laid around some more. Around 2 pm, I started on my last final of the year. I started off strong, but as the day has went on, I’ve ran out of steam. I’m so tired, and I’m ready for it to be over. I’m putting the paper to bed for the night. I’ll finish it tomorrow.

Five more days, and I get to see Becca…

RSS Feed

I finally have my very own RSS feed! I wrote a little script that generates it by pulling stuff from my database. I’m quite excited! The code is sloppy, but it’ll work for now! Yeeehaw!

Praying for Snow

Old man winter has thusfar disappointed me. After much anticipation of a ton of snow, there’s absolutely nothing but a bunch of rain. I need to see something frozen. I need a snow day so bad. Having been thrown into the semester without a break in between has made it very difficult to get the room the way I wanted it.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Gearing Up

So, I’m sitting here gearing up for tomorrow. I’ll begin my 10 page paper with accompanying presentation hopefully by 12pm. I can’t wait until all this paper writing business is over. I feel I’ve written enough in college. I know, I know…You get a master’s degree because you’re doing advanced work. Still, I don’t care. My real job is to teach those kids. I know I’ll be much better at that when these education professors go away and let me focus on the students. Oh well. Six more months of this and then I’ll be done (for awhile, anyway).

On a happy note, the Thanksgiving holiday went over very well. The food was great; the company was better!

Short Week

I’m ready for Thanksgiving break. I can’t wait to eat, drink, sleep, and be merry. This semester has went well professionally, but as a student, it has been a little rocky. It’s almost over. I’ll emerge on the other side that much closer to my Master’s. For lack of any other way to put it: Yeeeehaw!

By the way, Becca and I had a great weekend! I laughed so much my ribs hurt. Seeing her for 5 days is another reason to long for Thanksgiving break! I’m so happy, I could pee, but I won’t because I’m potty trained and it’s a bit nasty on carpet.

A New Way to Deal

Anyone and everyone who has known me for any length of time knows that I stress over my schoolwork. Even though I’m a graduate student who is nearly done, I still have the same fear of failure I had as an ignorant freshman about 6 years ago.

This weekend, I was stessing so bad. Becca stepped in and gave me one more reason to marry her. She greeted my stress with soothing tones and waved it off with one brush of her hand across my face. After her loving touch, I once again realized that life’s not so bad and that everything will be ok. I’ll never have to stress alone again. I’ve found the one who can calm the rage of nerves inside of me. I don’t think it’s possible to love her anymore, but I know now that I can always love her calmly.

Insomnia

I hate it when I can’t sleep. I’ve never been much of an insomniac, seeing as how I’m usually the first person in the bed. Tonight, though, my brain won’t shut up. I’m downloading Yellow Dog Linux ISOs from here at the Sheraton in Lexington, and all I can think about is whether or not it will work on the little G3 iBook. I sure hope so, considering I paid $10 for the rights to use this connection. At least it’s relatively fast. Lo and behold, typing this post has actually called forth the sandman. Just as I planned… :)

Wondermus Day

This day has just been great. First off, the kids are really engaged. They have worked very hard today, despite it being Friday. Normally, on Friday’s, very little gets accomplished. I try, but there are too many distractions and everyone generally appears dead. Today, though, was different, and I like it.

The icing on the cake, though, is that Becca is going to be here (in Jackson) all weekend. I’m so happy I could just pee (ya’ know, like one of those little dogs that gets really excited)! Actually, I won’t pee because it’s somewhat unsanitary, but I will pee in my mind at the thought of 60 hours of bliss! Yeehaw!
